Welcome to your meditation stay. For a few months, weeks or days, the Honora Zen Monastery is a place of emptiness and silence where the true self is contemplated through Zen meditation. “meditation in motion” and “meditation in silence” are equally valued. Work is a great opportunity to meditate and discover your true self. Life in the Zen monastery is physically and mentally very challenging.

Modules - Not Selectable

Modules are not selectable: Day-long hiking (in all weather conditions), household, cooking, meditation, gardening, etc. Every Sunday we attend Mass at the local church. The daily schedule may vary with time.

Etiquette - Freedom is, to sacrifice yourself voluntarily!

Etiquette is a behavior and rule that provides a framework so that one's own words and actions can be consciously carried out and processed and shows that one is under control. Life in the Zen monastery is physically and mentally challenging. The monks and nuns are happy to share temple life with you. If you cannot adapt to the rules, leave the monastery immediately. We eat what is served (dairy products, grains, vegetables, meat, fish, etc.). There are no exceptions!

Contemplation - Meditation Stay

Only one thing remains spiritually alive; Its remarkable functions are manifold. From the very beginning, there has been no birth and death. However, do you really understand this? Having cast aside the six thieves and their objects, its essence now appears in all its fullness. The entire earth, with its mountains and its rivers, will be one's own home. Who can pass though the realms of darkness bearing gold and silver? You can face the Lord of Death with your good and evil deeds alone.

According to conditions, your true nature is returning home. But how could you bleached bones ever reach the pure land? For the sake of Truth, forget the body and tread the path to enlightenment! In the same way as all the sages, as you reach the other shore (breakthrough from the I to the Self), you will find your place of origin. Since your true nature is always present, it is truly the Great Way. Since your spiritually active radiance shines everywhere, it is truly the Lord of the ten thousand things.
