Verse - Christ In Us

Jesus said to his disciples, "Compare me to anything and tell me who I am like." Simon Peter said to him, "You are like a righteous messenger." Matthew said to him, "You are like a wise philosopher." Thomas said to him, "Teacher, my mouth cannot tell who you are like." Jesus said, "I am not your teacher just because you got drunk from the bubbling spring that I caused to flow."

And he drew him to him and told him three proverbs. When Thomas returned to his companions, they asked him, "What did Jesus say to you?" Thomas said to them, "If I tell you one of these proverbs that he told me, you will take up stones and stone me, and fire will come out of the stones and burn you up."

Comment

The blissful thing is that the Kingdom of God is in us and awaits us, its heirs, and that we can enter at any time when we have become aware of the presence of Christ in us and our oneness with him. The mysticism of the Lord's words is pure Christ mysticism. It helps us to recognize ourselves as 'christophoros', as Christ-bearers, as the disciples and followers of Jesus did. I live - but now not I, but Christ lives in me.

It also expresses the hope that Christ will take shape in you, that many will be certain of the living presence of Christ in them. For just as the lightning comes from the beginning and shines until the end, so will the future of the Son of Man be. By lightning he means the light that shines in the innermost east, in the awakening soul, and makes it aware that the divine light and word is not somewhere outside and must be sought there, but is indelibly within it and is waiting for the hour when it becomes aware of it.

The Three Words

The three words tore through the already thin veil of non-knowledge that still separated him from the full awakening of the light in an instant, so that the inner world of light and the truth of the three words of destiny that brought about the breakthrough opened up to him: "I am you!" These three words, which were reflected in his awakened soul as an awareness of reality. "You are me, you are my own divine self!" ended the error that Thomas was still subject to.
