Mysticism & Gospel of Thomas – No. 19 – Trees of Life

Verse - Trees of Life

Jesus said, "Bless the one who has become what he was before he became. If you become my disciples and then listen to my words, these stones there will serve you. For there exist for you in Paradise five trees that never change, neither in summer nor in winter, and whose leaves never fall. He who knows these trees will not taste death."

Comment

The one who has awakened to his divine self can say with Christ: "Before Abraham was, I am." For the self was in God before every incarnation and is now and always in God and eternal like God himself. Blessed is he who knows that he was before he came into existence from primordial being, that is, before he was born.

For he is like Christ, who was before he became man, certain of his eternal existence. And whoever, certain of this, hears the divine word within himself, recognizes himself in self-ignition as the son of God and heir of the heavenly kingdom of light, is truly lord of the earth. He transforms even stones into the bread of life - or unleashes the primal power slumbering in the stones for the benefit of humanity.
