Error of Prohibition and Error of Fact

Error of Prohibition - Error of Fact

There are two categories of errors. Errors of prohibition, i.e. one did not know that something was forbidden. Errors of fact, however, are errors that are not so easy to recognize. In errors of fact, one fails to recognize a characteristic of the situation. For example, one confuses the daisy with the edelweiss. No matter what he does (and the intermediate steps are carried out correctly), it ultimately leads to the exact opposite end result to that intended. For example, the perpetrator confuses a real gun with a water pistol.

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!

Error of Facts - Cognitive Dissonance

Ignorance is the worst sin, it is the sin against the Holy Spirit. Most of the time we are subject to factual error, which is very frustrating and also very, very difficult to recognize. Often we only realize when we get to the end result that we have confused a characteristic, because no matter what we do, it leads to exactly the opposite end result.
